What We Do for New York Homes
Alley Park Flooring is a locally owned flooring company. We put in new floors, fix the ones that have given up, and bring tired wood back to life. Most of our work is in apartments, condos, brownstones and houses across New York, and we handle every job ourselves from the first measurement to the last swept corner. Here are the four jobs people call us about most.
Hardwood Flooring
Solid and engineered hardwood floors in oak, maple and other species, nailed, glued or floated depending on the subfloor and the room. We acclimate the wood, check moisture, and lay it straight off a proper reference line.
Tile Installation
Porcelain and ceramic tile for kitchens, bathrooms, entryways and laundry rooms. We set tile on a flat, solid base with the right backer board and membrane, keep the grout lines even, and seal what needs sealing.
Vinyl Flooring
Luxury vinyl plank and tile that looks like wood or stone and holds up to kids, pets and daily wear. It goes in fast, it is quiet underfoot in apartments, and it can go over many existing floors once they are flat.
Waterproof Flooring
Rigid core vinyl and other waterproof flooring for basements, bathrooms, kitchens and any room where spills or damp are a fact of life. We prep the slab or subfloor so the floor stays flat and tight at the seams.
We also do laminate flooring, carpet installation, full floor replacement and hardwood floor refinishing. See all eight flooring services on our Services page, or go to our Contact page for hours and a callback form.
Floor Problems We Fix in New York
A lot of our calls start with “something is wrong with this floor” rather than “I want a new one.” That is fine. We come out, look at what is going on, and tell you whether it needs a repair, a refinish or a replacement. These are the problems we see most often:
- Worn or scratched hardwood. Gray traffic paths, pet scratches and dull finish that cleaning does not fix anymore.
- Damaged or loose boards. Cupped, split, water-stained or lifting boards that need to be cut out and replaced with matching wood.
- Cracked or loose tile. Hollow-sounding tiles, broken corners and crumbling grout, usually from a weak base under the tile.
- Floors that can’t handle moisture. Laminate swelling by the dishwasher, warped wood in a basement, carpet that smells damp.
- Squeaks and soft spots. Loose subfloor, failed fasteners or joists that need attention before any new floor goes down.
- Gaps between boards. Seasonal gaps and separated seams on floating floors that were not installed with enough care.
- Worn-out carpet. Flattened, stained or stretched carpet on stairs, hallways and bedrooms that is ready to come up.
- Uneven or out-of-level floors. Dips and humps that show through new flooring unless the surface is leveled first.
If you are not sure what you are looking at, describe it on the phone or take a couple of photos for when we come by. We will give you a straight answer.
Recent Flooring Work
A few floors our crew put in. Carpet on stairs and in hallways is a common job in New York buildings, and it shows how much the prep and the cutting matter.

We work all over New York City. Walk-ups, doorman buildings, co-ops, row houses and single-family homes all come with their own rules, and we are used to booking service elevators, protecting hallways and keeping the noise to the hours your building allows.

Call Us to Get Started
The quickest way to get your floor moving is a phone call. We will ask a few questions, give you a rough idea of what the job involves, and set a time to come out and measure. When you call, it helps to tell us:
- The room – kitchen, bathroom, basement, bedroom, stairs, or the whole apartment.
- The current floor – what is down now and what shape it is in.
- The work you want – new flooring, a repair, a refinish, or a replacement.
